Folkcraft Summer Program
June 8-12 2026 9 am- 2 pm
Ages 6-12
Cost: $285
During this week in the woods, students will explore old and new techniques to create beautiful handwork from natural materials within the forest. Children will develop upon their creativity and inner engineers as they are guided in primitive folkcraft working with natural plant dyes, fibers, and wood. They will tend to our Angora rabbits and process their fur into yarn with drop spindles, create felted finger puppets, and explore many additional fiber arts. As part of this process participants will go on frequent guided excursions, learning to recognize the unique characteristics of the forest, flora and fauna of the landscape for weaving fibers and natural dyes, tend to the organic garden for natural dyes, eco printing, paper making and more! They will also enjoy their time splashing in the creeks and hanging from the rhododendrons ~*
– experiencing the connection between natural history and the creative process. As a group we will work toward building an intimate relationship with the environment around us through exploration, experimentation, craft, and play – thereby becoming better stewards of the land that supports us.

Ages: 6-12
Cost: $285

Each day the children will create their lunch together by harvesting the ingredients, measuring out the recipes, preparing the meal, cooking the meal, and eating together. They will hand craft a small recipe book filled with each days meals and plant observations, learn about the plants nutrition, and their life cycles.
They will observe and participate in seed germination, plant transplanting, and harvesting of mature plants.. understanding the full process of plant growth in our programs organic garden.
There will be a beautiful balance throughout the day to cool off in the creek, discover native salamanders and crawdads, discover in the forest, create garden inspired art, and a community within ~*
